TechTuesdays – History of the Net!

In 1986, I remember using Internet Relay Chat (IRC) to communicate from my college in Virginia (ODU) to my high school friends at Drexel U in Philly. That summer, one of my fellow computer lab workers went home to Spain and we communicated via IRC and E-Mail. Thus began my fascination with the interconnected university network known at BITNet (Because it’s there, Network). That’s BitNet, not Bitcoin which is a topic for a future TechTuesday. Bitnet was one of the predecessors to today’s Internet.

This week on TechTuesdays, we’ll take a brief look at the history of the Internet.
I hope you learn something new!

Enjoy,
Lonnie
